Nicole Reinhard has been appointed director of Filmpodium Zürich. She will start her new duties on 1 December 2021 and will leave Bildrausch – Filmfest Basel at the end of November. As a co-founder, Nicole Reinhard has had a significant influence on the shaping and development of Bildrausch – Filmfest Basel, which this year took place for the 10th time between 16 and 20 June. Thanks to her extensive knowledge of global and contemporary auteur cinema across all genres, her ability to make contacts and bring together filmmakers from all over the world, Nicole Reinhard – together with co-director Beat Schneider – has cemented Bildrausch – Filmfest Basel as a permanent fixture in Basel's cultural life.
Today, Bildrausch – Filmfest Basel is a festival that can pride itself of having a high quality level and an international appeal, which enjoys a special reputation especially among filmmakers all over the world. By creating Bildrausch – Filmfest Basel, Nicole Reinhard and Beat Schneider have managed year after year to bring cinematic gems and exciting filmmakers such as Lav Diaz, Paul Schrader, Teresa Villaverde and many others to Switzerland and thereby fill a gap in the country's cinematic landscape.
The board of Bildrausch - Filmfest Basel deeply regrets Nicole Reinhard's departure. Not without sadness, the board and the team would like to thank Nicole Reinhard for her great commitment, her passion, tenacity and openness. We wish Nicole all the very best for her new endeavors at Filmpodium Zürich.

We are delighted that co-director Beat Schneider will remain at Bildrausch – Filmfest Basel and will lead the festival into the future. The board will provide further information about the festival's future management structures in due course.
