The new trio of directors is complete
Samuel Steinemann has been appointed new overall director of Stadtkino, Landkino, Kinemathek Le Bon Film and Bildrausch – Filmfest Basel. Beat Schneider will become artistic director of Stadtkino, Landkino and Kinemathek Le Bon Film. Susanne Guggenberger will become artistic director of Bildrausch – Filmfest Basel.
“With my experience in the performing arts I want to lead film arts in Basel towards a networked future, characterised by even more cooperations. Through a variety of cultural experiences we build a world that is truly experienced only live, in a particular place. I see a lot of potential here – and great strength compared to the Netflix sofa at home.”
Born in 1971, Samuel Steinemann grew up in Zug. After studying Musicology and Philosophy in Zurich, and Cultural Management in Winterthur, he founded the Sinfonietta Zug, whose founding concert was a live orchestration of Chaplin’s silent film classic “The Circus”. From 2000 he lead the festival Strings in Lucerne as managing director, with responsibility for numerous world wide concert tours, before taking over as artistic director of the multi-disciplinary non-repertory theatre Casino Zug, where he made a name for himself with creative event concepts. Most recently he was managing director of the Künstlerhaus Boswil.
