In Vitrival, a small village in an idyllic rural setting, life suddenly takes a serious turn. An unknown person smears obscene graffiti on public walls, followed by a series of unexplained suicides. The village's two policemen, who until now have spent their days controlling traffic and listening to the radio, are called in to investigate. Overwhelmed, but with an endearing charm. A laconic, light-hearted look at a Belgian village with its charmingly quirky inhabitants, their village routines and habitual absurdities.

Noëlle Bastin and Baptiste Bogaert
The Belgian filmmaking duo is interested in interpersonal mechanisms, group dynamics and situations that put them to the test. In terms of group dynamics, groups of four are particularly interesting. In FOSSE COMMUNE (2025), we see four company founders using AI to search for a story; in TOUT PÉTER (2021), four politically active women; and in ON SOURIRA DE NOUS (2022), four anti-capitalist activists who set out to blow up a shopping centre. Their hopelessness makes their family relationships special. In TRAQUER (2020), a cousin and a cousin test the resilience of their relationship. And the two policemen in VITRIVAL (2025) are also cousins.
Baptiste Bogaert studied screenwriting and photography before working as a project manager in a government agency, which inspired him to make his debut film SALUT TRAVAIL (2019). Noëlle Bastin studied French and Romance languages and literature and then taught French for several years. At the same time, she made her first feature film, LA COUR (2017). Noëlle Bastin grew up in Vitrival.
