She knew early on that she wanted to be a photographer. But Libuše Jarcovjáková, a headstrong, non-conformist and not flawlessly socialist, was denied the opportunity to study. She has to work. And she does so in a print shop. Her first photo series were created. Smoking, drinking, sleeping workers. Atmospherically strong photographs. But not what the official bodies want to see. Just as little as everything else she photographed. Roma families, Vietnamese foreign workers, but above all the nightlife of the queer scene in Prague. The non-conformists, those who have fallen out of the drawers. Libuše Jarcovjáková documents her working environment in the socialist state, her own excesses and those of others. She gets into trouble with the police. A marriage enables her to leave for West Berlin. First successes in Tokyo. Back to Berlin. Then to Prague. The incessant search for herself also brings the political upheavals to light. The film narrative consists exclusively of photographs by Libuše Jarcovjáková, the diary memories are read by herself.
