2019: The environment is polluted. The skyrocketing cities are overpopulated, with smoke, neon lights and rain everywhere. And natural resources are exhausted. In this dystopian, bleak future, highly developed androids, known as replicants, are produced to carry out dangerous tasks in distant colonies. They are almost indistinguishable from real humans. Due to their increasing intelligence and sentience, they become a potential threat. When a group of replicants escape from their place of deployment, former Blade Runner Rick Deckard is sent to hunt them down so that they can be "retired"; in other words, killed. In the process, Deckard finds himself in a moral conflict and begins to question the humanity of the replicants and falls in love with the replicant Rachael.
