Almost a hundred years ago, Orlando was a story about a young man’s transformation into a woman. Today, it is the story of many. Each and every Orlando is on his and her own journey, but not alone. The film lays the foundation for how we will think and talk about gender in the future.

The philosopher, curator and queer theorist Paul B. Preciado has written the key work of European queer and trans activism: Contrasexual Manifesto. The film ORLANDO, for which Preciado also wrote the screenplay, is his directorial debut.
