When Library of Congress clerk Howard L. Walls happens to come across the paper print collection in the archives he is immediately besotted with his discovery: A vaultful of paper reels, documenting the whole spectacle of man, machine and nature, inflame his heart with uncontrolled passion. His excitement about these countless images of a lost time goes hand in hand with his desire for the star of an early porn film in the collection.
Based on a selection of old archive prints Morrison composes a haunting and sensual ode to cinema out of this premise – a film that celebrates the eternal charm of the medium just as much as it honours the magic of the irretrievable moment.
