Hadjithomas and Joreige set their incomparable story of Je veux voir in the heart of the art of film, which on the one hand consists of stars and fictional spectacle, and yet also tells of everyday people in documentary films. What happens when Catherine Deneuve - the muse of upscale French cinema par excellence - is invited to traverse the ruins left behind by the 2006 war in the south of the country in the company of the well-known Lebanese actor and video artist Rabih Mroué? The duo behind the camera - and sometimes in front of it - sends Deneuve and Mroué on a memorable, sometimes deceptively improvised day trip. Several incidents interrupt the pair's journey and give an idea of the catastrophic extent of the war that destroyed Rabih Mroué's home village. He would have loved to show the icon his childhood home: But it lies in ruins. This is how a great star and a great actor become involved in a real story of destruction.
