A police officer meticulously spreads out the belongings of one of the victims: in 2007, young men were infected with HIV under the influence of drugs at gay sex parties in Groning, the Netherlands. The press sensationalized the story. Tim Leyendekker, born in Rotterdam in 1973, a visual artist and filmmaker whose six short films have been successful at international festivals, was inspired by Plato's "Symposium" for his feature film debut and examines the most diverse facets of this case in seven vignettes - just as the participants in the famous banquet each paid tribute to the effects of the god Eros in their own speeches. Fictionalized testimonies and quasi-documentary play scenes are juxtaposed with the scientific digression of a microbiologist who talks about viruses and their behaviour in tulips and confronts us with the "rashomonic" fact that there can be no absolute truth. Instead, the provocative film, which reflects on questions of life, death and morality, offers us the opportunity to take a closer look at all the possible physical and philosophical realities.
