The idyll of a remote little town on the edge of a huge dam in the French Alps is shaken when long-dead residents suddenly appear on the doorsteps of their loved ones. They have no memory of their death, have not aged and simply want to resume their lives where they never left them. But the world has moved on. Fifteen-year-old Camille, who died in a bus accident, meets her twin sister, who is now three years older, and their parents, who have become estranged in their grief for their daughter. Simon, who died on the day of his wedding, is forced to realize that his former fiancée is now about to marry someone else. And a stubbornly silent little boy is looking for a new home with nurse Julie. At the same time, the small town is shaken by a gruesome series of murders, mysterious water fluctuations at the dam and proliferating marks on the bodies of the “dead” and the living pose a mystery.
