A science fiction film about Milena, the Yugoslavian-Marxist-Reichian beautician who falls in love with the Soviet figure skating champion Vladimir Ilyich and literally and figuratively loses her head over it. It could also be a grotesque. Or an AV reform circus. Makavejev's montage monument WR (W.R. - Misterije organizma) is probably everything at once, as well as a documentary, a trivial pursuit for advanced Wilhelm Reich admirers, a cultural-critical essay, a porno. And who knows what else: when material from a Nazi science film about psychiatry and euthanasia is used as a substitute for corresponding images and sounds of Stalin-Soviet provenance, simply anything is possible. More precisely: in a work that so freely and joyfully dissolves the boundaries of cinema and, out of sheer pleasure in paradox, also explodes the free spaces, anything must be possible.
