Above Us Only Sky - Opening

A narrator travels to present-day Prague to investigate a plane crash in 1972, where only one single woman survived the fall from a height of several thousand meters. He discovers surprising and sinister links between the communist past and the present day, starts questioning the power of logic, and decides to investigate the coincidences and the clues from the past, thereby creating a story based entirely on real, albeit coincidental events. With its meticulous yet playful approach, Above Us Only Sky blurs the boundaries that separate us from the past and replaces them with a present-day world that alternates between reality, imagination and speculation. A multi-layered visual and narrative allegory of individual and collective memory. Arthur Kleinjan is an artist and filmmaker based in Rotterdam. His works have been shown at many international exhibitions and festivals.
